The Berlin-based clean beauty brand maijuni was founded in 2020 by Diana Deltschew. Diana has German-Bulgarian roots. Through her Bulgarian grandmother, she learned a lot about the gentle and respectful treatment of nature. Many of her memories of summers in Bulgaria are linked to the scent of the Bulgarian rose, the Damask rose. With maijuni, she has brought this childhood memory back to life.
Diana Deltschew, the founder of maijuni harvesting roses
Today Diana is a qualified architect and designer. In addition to her aesthetic sensibility and the craft of designing, what sets her apart is her structured approach to her projects. Her work is strongly conceptual and nothing is left to chance. This is what she has also applied to maijuni: in the products she balances the understanding of nature and culture.
Our claim is the harmony of humans, nature and tradition. We meet this with our meticulous expertise throughout the entire production process - from the cultivation of the roses to the distillation and the producer bottling of our roseflower water. It took several years to find the perfect conditions.
One splash of maijuni rose water and you're in the midst of fields of blooming roses. It smells of the dewy, just-opening blossoms of the Damascus rose. The scented water is suitable for all skin types, especially for very sensitive skin and skin prone to inflammation. It intensively moisturises and gently nourishes the skin with its numerous nutrients such as vitamins, antioxidants, flavonoids and saponins.
The basis of the pure rose hydrolate are the fresh petals of the noble Bulgarian Damask rose, which has been known in the healing arts since ancient times for its beguiling fragrance and its harmonising and anti-inflammatory effect.

The floral water is a naturally pure hydrolate, an aqueous extract from the flowers of Rosa x damascena trigintipetala. In principle, rose water is obtained as a by-product of rose oil production. With the maijuni it is different, because this rose water becomes the main product: using freshly harvested roses exclusively for the production of rose water.
The floral water is produced by steam distillation of the just opened and freshly hand-harvested rose petals. Once the degree of saturation is reached, the essential oils settle on the surface of the water. Normally these are skimmed off and the rose hydrolate remains. Maijuni keeps the rose oil, which settles in the process, completely in the product. You can feel and smell this immediately.
The hydrolate consists of the water-soluble plant ingredients and the complete share of rose oil and enchants with the gentle scent of the freshly harvested blossoms.
During the harvest of the Damask rose
Diana has made it her goal to accompany the process from the cultivation of the plants to the processing and production of the cosmetic products. She knows the rose producers in Bulgaria personally and is also present at the harvest. The roses that are distilled for the floral water come exclusively from natural cultivation. No pesticides are used and there is no artificial irrigation. This has made the producers for over 10 years one of the few pioneers in the natural and organic cultivation of roses and forms the basis for a fair, responsible and contemporary product. At the same time, this guarantees the highest purity, transparency and quality of the rose water.
